My co-worker and friend, Micah and I were talking one day about funny things on the CTA. He mentioned that on his bus ride each and every morning there is a group of workers either just clocking out or just about to clock in. Some of these folks don't exactly have all their faculties about them. At each stop, the bus sounds a tinny bell and says the stop name - i.e bing, Belmont. One of the men on the bus mimics this with each stop. The bus says bing, the man says bing. The bus says Belmont, the man says Belmont. Two years ago this was funny, very funny. Today, not so much.
This incident really got me thinking and paying attention to my surroundings each morning. Yes, it would be easier to shove in my earphones and stare out the window. But, I would be missing so much good stuff. Some days I really enjoy it, some days I have to grit my teeth and keep my mouth shut. That doesn't always happen, but I try my hardest. I hope you all enjoy the hilarity, nonsense, ignorance, arrogance, and stupidity that is the Chicago Transit Authority!
